Ornament Workshop

This is a two day workshop on two consecutive weekends.

The first weekend will be devoted to working with the clay, and creating the pieces. This portion of the class consists of some initial instruction, a guided hands-on/demonstration period, and then an open work period. I will talk about how to work with clay and get it to do what you want, as well as what not to do with clay. Then I will lead everyone through some examples using different construction techniques, such as slab, coil, and modeling, after which I will provide individual support on the particular project that each person would like to make. My goal is for each person to have at least 3 small works made by the end of the day.

The second weekend is for glazing and decorating the now fired work. Again, some guidelines and different decoration options will be discussed, followed by individual assistance in each project.

This workshop is focused towards people who are new to clay, or perhaps have even never worked with clay, and would like to see what it's about. Of course experienced people are always welcome as well.

Whistle Workshop

This is a one day workshop devoted to learning how to make an end-blown whistle/flute and then making one. Having prior clay experience is helpful, but not required for this class. We'll go over a bit about clay in general, talk about how some whistles work, and then the particular project we'll be doing. If all goes well at the end of the day you'll have a working, tooting whistle! Unfortunately, at the end of the day you still need to leave the flute there so I can get it fired.

Additionally

Classes for different age groups can be arranged if there is interest. I can also do demos, or specialty workshops as arranged.

I have been working with clay for more then 12 years and have recently branched out into holding classes and workshops so I can help more people learn about the wonders of working with clay.
