Recurve, Heather I. L. Pedersen, 1993 High fired black stoneware clay body with a thick transparent white glaze I managed to get a hold of a small amount of a cone 6 black clay to make this vase with. It was beautiful clay, however I have been unable to find it since. This is one of my earlier works, as the base was trimmed by hand. I was having a great deal of difficulty in trimming pots on the wheel, and generally had every one come off the wheel head and go flying across the room. Only in the last few years have I gone back to using the wheel for trimming. |

Striped Vase, Heather I. L. Pedersen, 2001 High fired stoneware with brown semi-matt glaze brushed on This pot was one of a set of two I made as a study of form and glaze application. This vase had an interesting almost old fashioned feel to it from the distinctive shoulder on it. The second vase of the pair was a tulip profile with the glaze sprayed on, and had a much more modern style to it. |

Table Lamp, Heather I. L. Pedersen, 1993 High fired stoneware with a sprayed translucent matt jade green glaze This lamp was thrown as a sphere, then incised with the decorations, and finally cut to form the lid. This is the first lamp I have made, and I am fascinated with the use of light as an element of design. Perhaps a wall mountable version of this lamp would further emphasize the design of the light and shadow thrown off by the lamp. |
